TOKYO - The Japanese nuclear Fukushima 1 appears to be a major nuclear disaster to happen. From at least two reactors rising steam or white smoke, which probably indicates fire. The high radiation levels around the complex care makes it nearly impossible to work.
Employees of Fukushima one who feverishly trying to avert a nuclear catastrophe, last night had to be temporarily evacuated because even a sharp peak in the radiation. They are now back to work. The Japanese forces are fighting this morning for the first time a helicopter. The complex is difficult to fire trucks to reach the radiation and the enormous havoc that explosions so far have caused.
Sea
The situation in the reactors 3 and 4 worsened last night due to an explosion which caused fire. It is still unclear whether the fire is now extinguished. In units 1 and 2 seems the situation under control now uses seawater for cooling. The exact damage is however difficult to determine. The Japanese authorities fear that the fire in reactor 3 the protective sheath that radiation and radioactive materials must stop, has been damaged. Possible radioactive material is therefore outside the reactor spread.
Chain Reaction
Not only the reactors themselves are not dangerous, but also repositories for spent nuclear fuel rods. They are also cooled with water, but that is evaporated by the heat. This allows a new chain reaction with much heat and emissions. To avoid considering the owner of the power plant, the power utility TEPCO, boric acid to add the run-off. This acid absorbs neutrons that trigger a nuclear chain reaction and is therefore often added to the cooling water of nuclear power plants.
Emperor Akihito
Emperor Akihito reacted for the first time in public on the disasters that hit the country last week and which have claimed thousands of lives. In a rare televised speech the Head of State said he is deeply concerned, "I pray for safety as many people as possible'', said the emperor.
