It could possibly reach almost 1,000 people dead after the 8.9 magnitude earthquake which struck Japan.
According to police, it was estimated that they have found 200 to 300 more bodies in the northeastern part of Sendai City.
Aside from the remains found, 137 were also confirmed dead and 351 are still missing.
The authorities were fearing that such number could increase further.
"The death toll stood at 137, with 539 injured and 351 missing. 200 to 300 bodies have been found in the coastal city of Sendai alone. The death toll is likely to surpass 1,000," statement of Kyodo News agency of Japan.
Officials have said, aftershocks could possibly be felt continuously for a month.
Consequently, the country of Japan have declared a state of emergency due to the great damage left by the powerful earthquake.
The cooling system of a nuclear plant have allegedly collapsed while four other nuclear plants have shutdown due to said quake.
Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan have announced, that the tsunami after said tremor have caused an overwhelming devastation.
Prime Minister have also assured, that there were no radioactive materials leaking in nuclear plants.
"The earthquake has caused major damage in broad areas in northern Japan," Kan said.
The government of Japan have also ordered the massive residents in Onahama City for an immediate evacuation to stay away for the first three kilometers from the plant.
The radiation wasn't leaking, but the area is too hot even if it was already been shutdown.
Prior to this, the 8.9 magnitude earthquake which struck near the area of Honshu had resulted to a 23 feet or seven meters tsunami which was followed by 50 aftershocks wherein majority of them are over magnitude 6.0.
Twelve dozens of cities and villages in 2,100 kilometer coastline were severely hit by the massive earthquake that reaches up to Tokyo which are several hundred kilometers away from the epicenter.
