Ahmadinejad welcomed the Russian proposal on supporting Iran's nuclear program

"The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomed the Russian proposal receives the 'step' and is willing to make suggestions for cooperation in this field," said Ahmadinejad in a meeting with Secretary of Russian Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, according to the Web Iranian Presidency website.

Previously, Patrushev met with his Iranian counterpart, Saeed Jalili , who said: " The suggestion that our Russian friends could be a basis for initiating a dialogue on regional and international cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear activities."



Jalili did not provide details of how it would schedule these talks and said his country not ready, unlike the past, to deal with the major Western concern : its uranium enrichment work.



Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov , presented , on 13 July, a proposal to revive talks between Iran and the Group 5 +1 (the five permanent members of UN Security plus Germany) on the nuclear program.



Lavrov proposed an approach "step" in Tehran with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which would include a process of "phased" in which Iran would take "steps" to address the issues raised by the body.

The Russian plan, proposed by Lavrov after talks with U.S. President, Barack Obama, and Secretary of State of that country, Hillary Clinton, notes that approaches "step" will entail the gradual reduction of international sanctions Iran.
