An incredible mission is being planned by the American armed forces to fly mankind to an alien planet in the next hundred years. With the existing technologies, it would take roughly 70,000 years to reach such planet.
The project is entitled the ‘100-Year Starship study,’ reports the Sun. Within the next twelve weeks major decisions will be taken as to which destination planet to head for.
Any planets within our own solar system have been ruled out as being ‘inhospitable.’ Among the stars closest to our planet earth, Alpha Centauri is considered as an ideal candidate for the said mission.
Prize money of 300,000 pounds is being offered by US Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to scientists who can start overcoming obstacles.
The future impediments considered are whether human beings may be frozen for the operation or whether to just send embryos that may be fertilized and ‘born’ when it reaches its new abode.
A meeting by the military brass and scientists will take place in Florida, U.S in September of this year. Initial plans will be chalked out for investigation and migration into a world, beyond our solar system
