The India-England match of the 2011 cricket world cup to be played in the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Sunday the 27th February has already been marred by standoff between the police and the ticket seekers. Cricket lovers who were expecting it to be a day out and a celebration of cheering on their players and watching the match are disappointed.

It seems the number of tickets made available for sale to the general public is far too less than the numbers on demand – therefore, those who had been waiting in queue since Wednesday night clashed with the police. Only 8000 tickets are offered for sale in which most is sold in black while the capacity of the stadium is 40,000 – it seems the other tickets are reserved for the major sponsors, advertisers and other interested bodies and commercial partners.

This match had initially been scheduled to be held in the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, but was moved to Bangalore because the Kolkata venue had not been made ready in time.
