The 50-year old Iraqi father Fateh Hassan Almaleki went in for honour killing of his 20-year old daughter. The immigrant lived in Phoenix and took the decision because his daughter Noor Almaleki was too westernized – she went to college, had boyfriends and refused to go in for an arranged marriage. He ran over her in his Cherokee jeep.
Honour killings do take place in different pockets of the world – they usually are the culmination of marriages and relations that the couple does out of their clan or caste or society. At times, the killings take place in a foreign country – and, those who perpetrate such heinous crimes feel proud of the fact that they have cleansed society. They are usually pardoned by their own.
But, in the case of the Iraqi father, he has been convicted of second degree murder
