Russia would deliver 80 ‘Hip’s Mi-17V5 Advanced Helicopters to India by March 2011


Russia would deliver Mi-17V5 Advanced Helicopters to India by March 2011.
The India and Russia reached an agareement during the Aero India 2011 show organized in Bangaluru, for delivery of 80 Mil Mi-17 V5 choppers to India through the Russian state owned arms marketer Rosoboronexport, by March ending of this year. This NATO named ‘Hip’s are being manufactured in Kazan and Ulan-Ude Aviation plants that were used by Russian Air Forces during Afghan war. These multi-role Transport Helicopters are powered by two TV3-117VM (A) engines, each rated at 2,200 hp, with new auxiliary power unit and an extra port door on the starboard side.

Russia also offered India the upgraded version of the Mi-26T2 model which is easy to operate and is fitted with integrated on-board home manufactured equipment (BREO-26) with reduced crew members from six to three. Application of BREO-26 equipment would increase the realibility and flight safety with improved stability and controllability and hovering accuracy when performing the works on external sling. The Mi-27T2 version would fly in day and night in all weather conditions, with crew work load reduction by means of automatic monitoring of parameters of airborne systems.
