Fiji has taken a decision to remove the Queen’s head from its next batch of banknotes and coins. This action is in retaliation to the decision of the British to support the removal of the Fiji group of islands from the Commonwealth.
Fiji was a British colony and had gained independence in 1970. The images of the Queen’s head on its currencies would be replaced by images of trees and flowers that are unique to Fiji. Also under consideration are the colorful birds that are in abundance
