Shane Mosley & Manny Pacquiao’s Fight Tickets Almost Sold Out

Manny Pacquiao’s much awaited bout for the year with Shane Mosley on May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, seems to be doing good with regards to ticket sales after fans bought 16,000 tickets three hours after sales opened Monday (Tuesday in Manila, February 01).

In spite of the threats of boycott and criticism from some media sectors that the upcoming fight for the World Boxing Organization welterweight crown would be unbalanced in Pacquiao’s favor, the Filipino ring superstar again displayed his drawing power at the box office.

Going over from past results in the gambling city, the initial ticket sales salvo could also mean huge pay-per-view numbers. “Incredible, simply incredible,” Top Rank chief Bob Arum expressed. “I have never promoted a fight that has sold so many tickets so quickly.” Arum offered an explanation: “Manny Pacquiao never ceases to amaze the world with his achievements. The excitement he generated today … makes it feel like fight week already.”

With the MGM Grand seating set at 17,157, about 1,000 tickets remained available. Initial sales of Pacquiao-Mosley have also exceeded the 15,117 attendance when Floyd Mayweather beat Mosley by unanimous decision last May 1 at the same venue. Pacquiao is returning to Las Vegas after chalking his last two wins in Arlington, Texas.
