According to a new census survey, minorities make up a majority of babies in the U.S., for the first time, a sign of an extensive race change and growing age split between mostly white, older Americans and largely minority youths that could restructure government policies.
The new census also show the share of African-American households led by women made up of mostly single mothers, it now exceeds African-American households with married couples, a sign of waning U.S. marriages overall but also continuing challenges for black youths without involved fathers.
Based on the latest government data, the conclusion offer a preview of final 2010 census results that is being released this summer. The data provide detailed categorization by age, race and householder relationships such as same-sex couples.
The latest figures provide a clear proof of a changing social order, where by midcentury, racial and ethnic minorities will become the U.S. majority.
