Tropical storm Falcon strengthens as it merges with low pressure area (LPA) on Thursday, June 23. Due to that the storm Falcon with 75 to 90 kph, is faster and stronger. According to Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), the rain being felt was due to a convergence of the wind brought by Falcon and the south west monsoon.
Hundreds of students and workers were stranded due to floods brought by the storm Falcon. Rising water level in Marikina river triggers alarm and some 150 families voluntarily evacuated as the water level reaches 16 meters, beyond its spilling level of 13.8 meters as of 11 p.m. last night.
The Department of Education (DepEd) consulted PAGASA as to the estimated water rainfall volume in the next five hours. Heavy downpours and the overflowing of river prompted officials to suspend classes from pre-schools to high schools.
