Prominent book writer J.K. Rowling has launched a wizarding world website under the name Pottermore.com. The website as told by her is still a secret and the true story behind the inception of the website will be known in next couple of days. So far, the only information visible on the website is the label, telling the crowd, “Coming Soon”. "It is, in a word, breathtaking," wrote Leaky Cauldron, one of the leading Potter sites. "That is all we are permitted to say at the moment." It further says, "Speculation on the trademark information of Pottermore has also been making its way around the internet. The info, which was registered in 2009, says that Pottermore is trademarked for, among other things, multiple-user networks, online boards, digital audio, printed books, toys, retail stores, and more, and more, and more – in short, pretty much everything. We don’t feel this gives much direction one way or the other”.
The website is currently featured with two owls and a coming soon message from the author. The website's Twitter account has already gathered more than 35,000 fans. Many fans from all over the world are encouraging the release of the new website. They believe that since the completion of the Harry Potter series, they had been feeling distracted from the characters and the story. The launch of the new website may bring back the spark that was witnessed every time a new book would hit the shelves.
The website was discovered by fans after a "Secret Street View" challenge where 10 Potter websites were given co-ordinates that led to a different letter in the Pottermore name being revealed, Spy reports.
However, Rowling’s spokeswoman explained in The Bookseller: “It is not another Harry Potter book but we cannot reveal any more at this stage, fans will have to keep an eye on the website. It will be launching soon.”
The announcement released by Rowling’s spokeswoman was to counter different kind of rumors. As pottermore.com sparked rumors, the Rowling’s company Stone Hill Salt, had to immediately reveal that the new website had nothing to do with new novels of Harry Potter series.
Her spokeswoman confirmed, "We can confirm that Pottermore is indeed the name of J.K. Rowling's new project. She will be announcing it soon. It is not a new book, but we won't say more than that!"
News media has sent multiple emails to Rowling’s spokeswoman, but she did not immediately reply to emailed questions about the website.
